This specific carving was done on a spectacular piece of Western Red Cedar driftwood. Anyone who has carved on cedar can atest to the high quality of this wood and how aromatic it is when it is cut into.
As of January 2014 the location of the Sea Lion is unkown, it was tracked for quite sometime by the West Seattle blog and by local residents.
